Books lately...

My pregnancy tiredness has hurt my relationship with my kindle! ha! But I have been given many books on pregnancy so in the last few weeks, I have been reading some of those. I am sure many of you have read these but if not, these are the 2 faves so far!

Jenny seriously tells it like it is! I laughed all the way through it! Her humor really helps you laugh about even some of the most not-so-fun things you experience during pregnancy and delivery! I enjoyed it so much, I could read it again! If you are pregnant, you should pick up this quick and funny book!

A few weeks ago, my mom brought me The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding. If you don't know me well, my mom is a HUGE breast-feeding advocate! She has helped many of my friends with tips during their first weeks of nursing. I know I am so lucky to have such a huge wealth of knowledge/support to help me try to succeed at breast feeding! I have started reading this book and can already tell that I will be using it as a guide and also a reference if I start having issues after Preslee is here!

Let me know of any other books I really need to read in the next 12 weeks!!

I LOVE that book by Jenny! She has another one too (I can't think of the name of it right now) about post partum stuff and it is HILARIOUS. Definitely read that!

I read "So That's What They're For", another breast feeding book. It was educational & funny. In fact, I probably need to get that back out...

Babywise! I waited until my baby was about 6 weeks old to read it, and I wished I had read it before he was born. It would have helped out tremendously. Also, I love the book Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child!

I actually love all of Jenny's books and even though I don't have kids yet, I've read Belly Laughs. Baby Laughs is funny too!

I loved Belly Laughs! I was literally laughing out loud at night in bed while reading it. My husband thought I was crazy.

"Baby Laughs" you should definitely read, it's Jenny's follow up to "Belly Laughs".

"Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" is a really good one. It's sort of like "babywise", but I don't think it's as hardcore about a schedule. Great book.

One of my fav's was "So That's What They're For" It is a hilarious book about breastfeeding, but it's got tons of useful info, too. Definitely worth reading!

I love that your mom is a BFing advocate. :) I didn't read any books, except the "what to expect" one. :)

I LOVE The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding. My mom was a Le Leche League leader for YEARS and gave me this book when I was pregnant with out first 5 years ago. It seriously gave me confidence to continue nursing, even when things were rough. I ended up being "that hippy mom" and nursed our son until he was 3. I'm pregnant now with baby boy #2 and will definitely use it as reference again. I can say the worst book EVER to read is What to Expect when You're Expecting. I threw mine away. ;) If you have Netflix, check out The Business of Being Born. :) hugs! Erin

PS The No-Cry Sleep Solution is fantastic. I totally forgot to add that. It's basically not letting your baby cry it out (I figure babies cry for a reason) and it helped me to help our son sleep better. :)

I'm Heather, and I read a lot! Definitely BabyWise, so great! We used it with all four of ours to help them get on a sleeping and eating schedule. Completely recommend! All 4 of ours were sleeping through the night between 6-8 weeks, and they continue to nap on schedule at 5,4,3, and 15 months. Happiest Baby on the Block is so great, too! One more, Dr. Denmark Said It. She is a famous pediatrician from ATL and also a family friend of ours. The book is so great and just a wealth of knowledge to new mommies.

The only book I can highly recommend is Baby 411. It is your go-to book for everything. Written by a pediatrician/ mother. Start reading the newborn stuff now to familiarize yourself with what you will have questions about. I had a baby in the 80's, 90's, and another just 3 years ago and this is one of the best I have had - very comprehensive. It will save you calls to the doc when your sweetie is sick. Love it! Also, the Toddler 411 is fabulous. She talks a lot about vaccines also. If you are concerned about vaccines - I love Dr. Sears ' vaccine book. Very informative. You can find all these guys on Amazon. :)

I have been reading your blog for sometime and love reading every entry. Congratulations on expecting as well. I am very touched by your story. I cannot wait til Pasiley makes her arrival. Can't wait to see all her outfits and bows and what you will do with her hair someday.

So glad to know that your mom is there espically to help you if needed with breastfeeding and know that you plan to breastfeed. The womenly art of breastfeeding was given to me as a gift and I love having it around. I have 3 kids and had a hard start with my first but determination got me through. I have breastfeed all my kids beyond a year. My youngest is almost 3 and I'm still breastfeeding partly because she is not wanting to give it up. I love it and the bonding time. No matter how old they are I gotten rude comments but had to let them go and do what I think is best .
