'Sweet blue-eyed friend'

My sweet furry friend, Maui passed away today. I have had many cats in my 26 years but Maui was my absolute favorite!

I didn't initially pick him out of the litter. I had chosen a yellow cat, known as 'Nala' but my mom said she just couldn't leave this sweet little white cat with blue eyes so we took both home with us that day in April of 2000. Nala was an explorer who didn't live a very long life but Maui on the other hand didn't care to be to far from home. He was the cutest little white fur ball. As he grew bigger he turned brown but his eyes never changed! They were so blue and that made him special!

Everyone loved Maui, except our African Grey Parrot! He would even call Maui's name and try to get him to come to the cage door. Once Maui fell for it and stuck his paw through the bars of the cage and the bird tried to bite his paw! It was seriously so funny!!

Maui spent a lot of time with me when I lived at home and spent many nights sleeping beside me. He didn't like to exercise much and could always be found sleeping in my dad's closet. Maui ended up being one of the fattest cats I have ever seen weighing over 20 pounds!! He also had the loudest purr and cried every time I walked in the door because he loved me so much! He was so special to me that I even had my high school senior pictures made with him! I don't know if I will ever have a cat again but I will never forget all the memories with my sweet Mau Mau!

Matt and Maui came into my life within months of each other so they always had a special bond!

I don't have many digital pictures of Maui so these are after he was grown!

I'm sorry. He was a beautiful cat. I know how hard it is to lose a pet. The poem, The Rainbow Bridge, helped me when I've lost pets.

I'm so sorry, Julee. Cats are so special...special in a different way than dogs because they are so particular about who they give their loyalty. I had a blue-eyed cat once too named Eliza. Meeko chased her away one afternoon shortly after I married Steve, and I still miss her so much!

I'm so sorry Julee :( I know EXACTLY how you feel. I had a cat for 14 years and also had my senior pictures made with her! She died while I was teaching a UCA cheer camp so I never got to say goodbye or see her one last time :( It SUCKS going through the loss of a pet. I'm so sorry for you, and your family too.

I'm a blog follower (love your blog by the way) and was so sad to hear of the loss of your sweet blue-eye friend, Maui. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I too found peace in reading "The Rainbow Bridge" poem (as Alyssa mentioned) when my little dog Elliot passed away a few years ago. Again, my thoughts are with you.
