hair chat. dry shampoo

Dry shampoos are becoming extremely popular. The market for dry shampoos has exploded over the past few years. They are sold in both spray-on and powdered formulas. There are many versions and many brands and to be honest, I haven't tried many of them! There are high- end brands such as Frederic Fekkai, Bumble and bumble, Oscar Blandi, Rene Futere. But there are also many very affordable brands as well!

Through my research, I came to the conclusion that there are two types of dry shampoos. 1- The kind that actually makes dirty hair cleaner and smell better without washing. 2- The kind that absorbs oil and adds texture. But both will extend the wear of your hair for at least an extra day!

These are a few that I wanted to share with you...
Since I work at a salon that exclusively sales Bumble and bumble, this is one of the only dry shampoos that I have used quite often. Bumble and bumble Hair Powder is an aerosol spray that instantly adds volume, absorbs oil and extends the life of your blow dry. It can also be used to create texture for updos, add grip and color blend your roots. There are 2 sizes... 1 oz- $19, 4 0z- $35. I know that is not affordable for everyone but it really is a great product!

Directions: Shake the hair powder can well before use. Spray 10-12 inches away from your head and spray directly onto your roots and hair. Let it dry before shaking out excess with your fingers. Brush or comb through to distribute. Then style as desired!

This is the one I want to try next! I saw that Melissa Rycroft tweeted about this the other day and said "why did no one tell me about this awesomeness-in-a-bottle before now?" That made me really want to see what it was all about! I think the price is around $17.99.

Description: TIGI Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo keeps hair rockin' one more day! Spray at Roots to absorb excess oils, make hair fresh and keep it rockin' one more night.

Haven't heard much about this particular dry shampoo but Big Sexy is a well known brand and would be easy to find in local stores. The price is around $16.99.

Description: Big Sexy Hair Volumizing Dry Shampoo is a clay and mineral based dry shampoo that will add volume while absorbing excess oils, impurities and product build-up. No need to use water! It is great for use as a refresher in between washings!

When I was doing the dry shampoo research, this one came up very frequently! I saw it at Sally's Beauty Supply for around $8. But I am sure can be bought online for even cheaper! And you have choices in smells!

Description: Baliste Dry Shampoo, the in-between shampoo, perfect for hair that feels greasy and lifeless between washes. Quick and convenient to use at home or on the move. It leaves your hair feeling clean, fragrant and full of body.

Directions: Shake can vigorously before use and in-between spray burts. Hold away from your hair and spray lightly and evenly. Massage through hair with and leave for a few moments. Brush out, preferably with a brush.

Klorane Dry Shampoo is another one that I want to try! It is sold at Sephora for $18 but also online for a little less.

Description: Klorane Extra Gentle Dry Shampoo is an easy-to-use formula is perfect for frequent use to clean hair without water. Ideal for people in a hurry and unable to wash their hair. When sprayed directly onto hair, Klorane penetrates the hair absorbing dirt and hair products. When brushed out, Klorane takes all these impurities with it, and you are left with soft, clean hair.

Directions: Shake well before use and evely spray a small quantity of powder on the hair. Leave for 2 minutes and brush out thoroughly.

Like I said before, I don't know a whole lot about dry shampoos and most of this information is from websites. But I had a few request for this particular subject so I hope that I could answer a few of your questions! I think the best thing is to read reviews on individual brands and then try them out! If I try any more of them, I will for sure blog about them!

I use the Rockaholic brand and LOVE IT!! I don't wash my hair as much as I used to, and that is great. I wish I would have known about it much sooner, because it is a lifesaver and saves me soooo much time!!

Thanks for sharing all your knowledge with us! I love to read your blog. :)

Love these hair chats. Dry shampoo has changed my life! I like the non-aerosol Klorane which is more like a powder. There is another good one called Ojon. I am definitely trying the Rockaholic next!

rockaholic is my very favorite. makes your hair feel clean and awesome. i've used big sexy and it works good but your hair feels like it has a lot of product in it. i bought the baliste or whatever at kroger the other day b/c i wanted to get some quick before brock came. it smells kinda like an old lady...very powdery fresh. haha it works okay. overall of the 3 i like rockaholic the best. dry shampoo is such a great thing. coming from someone who used to have to wash their hair EVERY day no matter what. it has been a nice change. love reading all your tips. hope you guys are doing good!

Have you ever used this one:
http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=94840&catid=11899&brand=8364&trx=PLST-0-BRAND&trxp1=11899&trxp2=94840&trxp3=1&trxp4=0&btrx=BUY-PLST-0-BRAND

I haven't used it in a few years, but I think it worked well. And it only cost about $5. It may not be the best choice professionally though :)
