Saturday night, we had the honor of attending a charity gala raising money for families of children with cancer. Hannah's Hope was started by Hannah's parents after she passed away from a rare cancer at 17 months. Their mission statement is "To Help Others Pay Expenses. We help support families that have a child battling cancer with their life necessity non medical bills, and raise awareness for Pediatric cancer."

We as blog readers, unfortunately read many blogs about sick children and many of them have cancer. We pray for them but have you ever stopped to think about what the family is going through financially? Not only do they have tons of medical bills, some parents lose their jobs or have to quit to be with their family at the hospital. That means there is no income to pay mortgages, rent, car payments and so on. This is a cause that is dear to our hearts. We have lived through a similar experience with Matt's dad having leukemia and our recent cancer scare with Matt. We hope to be able to spread the word for this organization and any others that have the same mission. So please check out the Hannah's Hope website at www.hhopef.org
This was the 2nd annual Benefit Gala for the Hannah's Hope organization. This year was bigger than last year and they hope to keep growing each year.
These are Hannah's parents and the sole reason for this great charity in Northwest Arkansas, Jon and Tiffany Boles.
This was the coolest part of the night... Bruce Jenner was the guest speaker!
We got to hang out with Bruce and even got to sit at the same table as him during the event! Luckily, I have forced Matt to watch the reality show "Keeping up with the Kardashians" so we had plenty to talk to Bruce about...
He talked a lot about his love for remote controlled helicopters! I asked him if his son, Brody, was glad that the Hills tv series was over? He said yes, but that Brody was probably going to be on a new scripted show starting soon. He also said that Brody had taken up golf and plays almost every day. Matt asked him about Kim Kardashian's new boyfriend, Miles Austin, but he said he has only been around him a couple of times, but seems like a nice guy! I wanted to ask him so much more about his famous daughters but I didn't want to seem a like a crazy person. However, he did mention that I would fit in with his family because of my long dark hair! :)
Bruce is a wonderful motivational speaker. He has been doing this for many years and has completely perfected his public speaking and didn't use notes for a speech that lasted about 20 minutes. Bruce chooses to find his inner champion and even wrote a book "Finding the Champion Within" to reflect his ventures. He was so entertaining and I loved hearing all about his journey to winning a gold medal in the 1976 Olympics.
Once again, the night was about raising money for Pediatric cancer and I hope all of you will check out the Hannah's Hope website. Please donate anything you can to help Arkansas families battling this horrible disease!
